Annual Election Period aka AEP for Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug  (MAPD) members and Part D Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) members is a time period to switch plans for the following calendar year.  Annual Election Period starts October 15th and ends on December 7th.

MAPD and PDP plans typically changes from year to year. Members are notified of their plan changes for the following year around October 1. It is a good idea for MAPD and PDP members to review their plan to make sure it addresses their needs and provides the most benefits available.

Some things to consider are:

  1. Are you are Providers / Doctors In-Network?
  1. Are you a prescription drugs covered?
  1. Is your pharmacy in at work?  Is it a preferred pharmacy or a standard pharmacy? This can affect your costs
  1. Do you qualify for a part B give back?  Part B credit which can be more than $100 per month
  1. Does your plan include Additional Benefits such as:
  • Dental, Vision, Hearing, Over the Counter Allowance, Transportation, Fitness Membership, Chiropractic Services, Post Discharge Meal Allowance, Post Discharge Personal Home Care, Foot Care, Rewards and Incentives, Flex Spending Account
  1. What is Your plans Star Rating?  A five (5) Star Rating is the Highest Rating available
